Hello, question for the dev list on the subject of network installs: We're dealing with an environment that consists of Windows machines that are centrally-provisioned and reset to a default image for each login session. We are able to save and restore a limited amount of data for each session, so the process looks like this:
- user logs in to the network - clean profile is created - clean BOINC installation is loaded, including acct_mgr_url.xml and a default acct_mgr_login.xml - specific acct_mgr_login.xml and client_state.xml are pulled from the network, if saved previously for this machine This process seems to be working for a few machines, but others don't even appear to be trying to connect to the account manager, reporting only this: 10-Sep-2012 13:46:11 [---] This computer is not attached to any projects 10-Sep-2012 13:46:11 [---] Visit http://boinc.berkeley.edu for instructions 10-Sep-2012 13:51:51 [---] Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 10-Sep-2012 13:51:55 [---] Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. Would it be accurate to say that, in order for this to happen, the client must not be configured properly with acct_mgr_url or acct_mgr_login? Does anything stand out about this process that would make it prone to such error? Thank you, -- Tristan Olive _______________________________________________ boinc_dev mailing list [email protected] http://lists.ssl.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/boinc_dev To unsubscribe, visit the above URL and (near bottom of page) enter your email address.
