That would better go to boinc_dev, I think.

Hi everybody, since some days I'm thinking about your switch to git, with the
benefits that this has implied.
Anyway this approach still have some problems e.g.:
- there is no automatic tag at each release, with a link for the source
downloading.
- people cannot contribute.
Sometimes I get some wrong code on my way when I package boinc, and I maybe
just want to send you the patch for review, but sometimes is easier to push it
debian side, with the only benefit of debian/ubuntu people.
I recently became a developer of ettercap, and we switched from svn to github.
The community has increased, and every people intrested forked our repository
and each 2-3 days we get pull requests of minor/major bug fixes.
Of course we need to review them and accept/deny them, but this is an approach
that has speed up the process of development and bug fixing.
My opinion is that boinc could approach a similar way, and I'm pretty sure this
will come with a real big benefit of every user on this community.
By the way github also gives an automatic tagging system
https://github.com/Ettercap/ettercap/tags
Thanks for your time
Just my 0.02 $
