An imposing figure at 2.13m (7ft) and still only 19 years old, Yi is
considered the new star of Chinese basketball and widely touted as the next
Yao Ming ¨C his country's first superstar who made history with his NBA
draft selection in 2002.

Yao will not be involved in the Games because of his NBA commitments in the
United States.

The responsibility therefore falls on the young shoulders of Yi to lead
China's scoring and rebounding efforts as it tries to reclaim the crown lost
to Korea in 2002.

"As far as my basketball career is concerned this will be a big test for me
and a big opportunity," Yi, who currently plays for top side Guangdong
Hongyuan in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), told the state press.

"But right now I'm not thinking a lot about the draft. What is on my mind is
how to win the Asian Games championship and this year's CBA championship."

Yi and China will warm up for the Asian Games with two matches against the
Albuquerque Thunderbirds ¨C the NBA development league's defending champions
¨C in Ningbo City on 16 November and Macau, China two days later.

'Meanwhile Korea's hopes of successfully defending its crown have been given
a huge boost with the news that centre Ha Seung-Jin will be available after
his release by NBA side Milwaukee Bucks.

The Korean Basketball Association has been quick to draft Ha, his country's
first-ever player in the NBA, into its 11-man squad for the Games with Kim
Jin-soo the player to make way for the 2.23m (7ft 3in) centre.

Once the Games are over, Ha, whose father Dong-ki won a silver medal with
Korea in the Asian Games Bangkok 1978, will then try to find another team to
play for in the NBA, having previously also played for the Portland
Trailblazers.

Korea's victory on home soil at the 14th Asian Games Busan 2002 ¨C to claim
a first Asian Games gold in 20 years ¨C was certainly dramatic; beating
China 102-100 in overtime to deny its biggest rivals a fifth successive
triumph.
