It should be... Of course you need to specify what pages to index:
[(index pages={p} altindex=gutentag)]
If you are indexing in an altindex, you need to create an alt index
list page for there to be automatic indexing. IE, generate a list of
the pages you want to index on site.index.gutentag. You could use the
site.index page as a model for how to generate this list--changing the
target from site.index.list to your non standard altindex name. But
this is not necessary if your are specifying the pages to index.
