Maybe you can explain how you would like to see this work. I'm open to
suggestions. Are you suggesting that if someone put a link to a file
on a given page, permissions should be checked before that picture is
displayed, based on the page itself? The authorization system in
BoltWire is very flexible. It's easy enough to add this kind of
stuff--but I'd like to see some sample markup and what exactly you
would like to see it do.

page that links to it, unless you are using the site.auth.files
optional page.

Yes, a custom action. I then add something like this markup to their
profile page:

[if exists {id}.jpg
dir=files/members]--[[action.upload2&dir=members|Change Picture]]--
[else][^{id}.jpg dir=files/members^][if]

Basically, a link to my custom upload page (action.upload2) if they
haven't loaded a picture yet, else, it shows the picture. You could
use variations on this as needed. Note you could use the standard
[^img.jpg dir=files/members^] markup as well I think...

It should be [^file.ext dir=files/dir^] or maybe [^file.ext dir=subdir^]

Cheers,
Dan
