As far as best practices for moved pages go I believe the upcoming Joomla! 1.6 will serve as an excellent example. It takes care of re- direct links and all that, and I would expect them to do a thorough job considering the URL issues the platform has been experiencing in light of its massive extension offering.
http://community.joomla.org/blogs/community/1071-a-preview-of-link-redirection-in-joomla-16.html Wordpress can also do similar things with ease with just a couple plugins added. Especially check out the sweet AJAX demo for the first link! http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/pagemash/ (page re-ordering doesn't get much easier than this) http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/redirection/ http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/advanced-permalinks/ How does BoltWire handle files though? Might that become a problem? And what about moving pages between farms?
