OK, I think I figured it out. I was trying to do a shortcut in my index.php, like this:
<?php
$BOLTadmin='admin';
include_once("../../boltwire/barn/scripts/engine.php");

because I wasn't sure that the extra '$boltwire =' line was needed. Looks like it is. Once I added that line in, so that now index.php looks like the example on the farms tutorial...
<?php
$BOLTadmin='admin';
$boltwire = "../../boltwire";
include_once("$boltwire/barn/scripts/engine.php");

Everything works. Note to self: Follow directions.

I think you have to tell to php where to run except in htdocs. Check

I've been getting this problem as well, but only when trying to set up
boltwire as described here (http://boltwire.com/index.php?
p=docs.admin.farms#high_security).  Following the directions under
that section, I put the boltwire directory under my apache
installation directory and my field in htdocs. I then edit index.php
as described in the same page. Attempting to access it yields the
following message in PHP's error log:

PHP Notice: Undefined index: errors in C:\Program Files\Apache
Software Foundation\Apache2.2\boltwire\barn\scripts\engine.php on line
18

If I put the boltwire directory directly under htdocs and return
index.php to its original state, everything works fine. I'm on
Windows XP SP3.

Have been trying with new install of WampServer 2 and current boltwire
package on Windows 7 Enterprise (32-bit). Any thoughts?
