I had two books inspected (the packages had careful slits in the side and there were no notes that they had been inspected). They were both origami books. One was from England and I guess that's why they inspected it. It was nothing interesting. The other was from New York, and it contained a Japanese language book. I was really pissed, and filed a complaint with my local post office, and it has never happened since.
