As far as I'm concerned, once the book leaves my hands, it's no longer my property (I'm no longer the "owner"). Whoever finds it can do as they want including making it part of their permanent collection - in fact, to me that means the person must really like the book and plans on taking care of it indefinitely which to me is a good thing!
