For me, the issue isn't so much about the content of the book(s) being requested, but whether an unsupervised minor should be exchanging snail-mail addresses with strangers at all. Of course, it's hard to be sure that the person you're dealing with *is* a minor; people sometimes enter the birth date field incorrectly, either accidentally or on purpose. But if I suspect that the person who's asking for a book is under 16 or so, I'll check their profile to see if they list another BCer as a parent, and if not I'll ask them to have their parent or guardian contact me to let me know it's OK to send a book. If the BCer does list another BCer as parent/guardian I'll PM them about it. I should probably add that I've only run into this situation a couple of times since being a BCer; in most cases if I've been asked for a book for an under-age BCer the request comes from their parent to begin with. But I do think it's something to consider; if the parent is not a BCer (or even if they are) they may find it very unsettling to have packages from strangers arriving for their children... -GoryDetails See the books I've set free at: http://bookcrossing.com/referral/GoryDetails Have you told a friend today? http://bookcrossing.com/tellafriend Archives and email list settings: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BookCrossing Yahoo!
