Hi fellow Boom lovers,
I recently bought two of the replacement Boom displays from JoeMuc
(Johannes) above and now have one left over if anybody here can use it.
I am in Alexandria VA if a US user wants to purchase this from me and
avoid the customs/overseas shipping problem. In my case, my repair guy
could not successfully do the display replacement due to the excessive
blobs of severely hardened glue that Logitech deposited all over the
inside of both of my Booms. He tried gently chipping it away in the
first of my Booms he worked on (no solvent would dissolve it) and while
he got the glue off and the replacement display installed, the chipping
process dislodged some other tiny part on the board and the Boom now
does not work at all. So I sacrificed a Boom in my quest to have new
displays installed in both of my Booms. I have a new unused spare
display, as mentioned above, and also an entire nonworking Boom
available for other parts (speaker, knob, grills?) if anybody needs
them.
Bummer but I am glad I tried. Johannes has had better luck in his
display replacement than my guy had. Maybe the blobs-of-glue problem is
only for Booms made for sale to US market? Or I am just unlucky to have
two glued Booms?
Let me know if anybody wants my display or my nonworking Boom.
