Hi sc53,

I'm so sorry it didn't work out as expected. If you could post some
photos of the damage here, I (or somebody else) might be able to make a
statement about recovery chances. I can still give it a try if it's
worth the trouble for you. International shipping might be much easier /
cheaper if it's just about the PCB and not the entire unit. Customs and
security officers might have an issue with the word "Boom" though that's
printed on the PCB. Not sure they understand that this is just part of
an entertainment device. Anyway, I'm glad to help.
So far I have seen seven or eight Boom units from the inside and it's
pretty safe to say they are all more or less glued up, and the assembly
line guys preferred the display pins a lot to glue down the Wi-Fi
antenna cable. No good reason for it, and certainly not a good choice
position-wise, they just did it without switching their brains on. The
stuff they used was the same in all units, just a small variance in the
amounts and exact places where it was applied. I spent several hours
just removing these glue blobs where I needed to do soldering, it's a
very tedious job and requires a considerable amount of time, and the
PCBs are not very forgiving. No good if the clock is ticking and every
minute is measured in dollars.
Sorry again, I hope I can still help one way or the other.

Best regards,
Joe
