Hi all,

let me repeat that the rubber surrounds are useless. I have attempted to
mount the first one today and it's not possible. The inner ring is too
small so if I try to stick it down in one place, it comes up in another
place, and vice versa. There will always be some tension so it's safe to
assume that even if one manages to get it stuck down all around, it will
come loose again. There's no alternative to the foam surrounds, or
rubber surrounds which are considerably larger than the ones offered.
Even if they claim they are for the Boom speakers, it's not a good fit.
The foam surrounds are worry-free.

Please disconnect the flat flex that connects the mainboard and the
front panel board. If you then power up the Boom, does it come alive
again? Could it be that the flat flex was at an angle in one connector
or both? Are all the metal pads on both sides of the flat flex still in
good order? They might come loose after a few times being plugged and
unplugged, and can even bend easily so they touch a neighboring pad.
Are you sure the main and front panel boards did not touch at any time?
There's only minimal clearance between both when the front panel is on
so the risk of electrical parts touching is high, especially if both
boards are not bolted down as far as possible. It's my suspicion that
this might be one of the reasons for Booms dying from one day to
another, or during repairs.
