Current version of gcc defines the 'archive' action as:
actions piecemeal archive
{
$(RM) "$(<)"
ar ruc "$(<)" "$(>)"
}
-- so everything is quoted. Joel, can you provide the command that failed.
It's printed after "failed <some-target>" message that bjam should have
emitted. Do you have "ar" in your PATH?
