These look rather good to me except that

Firefox 2.0 nor IE 6 does not show the last three fancies right

 Try some superscrips and subscripts: x2, xi3, α2, βα, ⌊x⌋, ⌊α⌋, ⌈a⌉.

Even though this displays right now I have copied and pasted it in!

The pdf displays as:

Try some superscrips and subscripts: x2, xi3, α2, βα, x , α , a .

Just to confuse further :-(

AND although I'm not that keen on green ...

I strongly like the faint green (or blue or yellow?) background

Could it be even fainter and still work?

Could a very faint yellow be better? (This is used by TextPad to show the
current line containing the cursor and is RAELLY helpful).

and I like the border, again as thin as possible.

The callouts are a bit faint grey?

(And personally I strongly prefer inline comments - you don't have to keep
hopping the eyes about).

I also note that we are not using all the basic colors available yet - no reds
or purples.

And teal is a bit wish-washy. As Rene noted, the visually challenged (mea
culpa) find it more difficult.

I like the titles in bold but dark green.
