Thanks - this question came up on yapc-plan, and a few people suggested
that if it were held in RI, Providence might be better. There's not much
in the way of dining and nightlife on the URI campus: it is effectively a
dry campus - you can't buy any alcohol on campus. If you wanted that,
you'd need to roam off-campus, and for that you'd need people to bring
cars or we'd need to charter a shuttle for the evenings.

Providence can be reached using public transportation - the train stops in
the middle of downtown, and the airport is easy to get to (there is public
transportation, shuttles, cabs). There is *plenty* to do and see in
Providence after hours - you can get around town in these quaint trolleys
they are running.

I can help you arrange to have YAPC in either place - if you'd like to
pursue having it at URI, I think we can make that happen. I can look into
lining up entertainment for evening functions so that people without cars
aren't stranded with nothing to do. Off-campus bars and restaurants are
5-15 minutes away by car. If you'd like to hold it in Providence, that's
something I can help you pursue, too!
