Though I haven't read Damian Conway's book, I have also heard that it's the best book on the subject. In the meantime, I've been reading the sequel to "Learning Perl", which is "Learning Perl Objects, References, and Modules". I'm not sure how it compares, given that it's thinner, but I like the book so far (I like Schwartz's writing style).
