Well, I'm on the list so I'm taking the liberty to reply.

Yes, I tried to apply to some grants. Sometimes I sent applications for more
than one grant, hoping to get one of them. I also received two grant
applications:

1. One for XML::RSS cleanup. Here's the final summary:

http://news.perlfoundation.org/2007/05/xmlrss_cleanup_grant_completed.html

This grant turned out to be very successful.

2. One for writing a parser for MediaWiki syntax -
http://use.perl.org/~Shlomi+Fish/journal/34570 . This was much less
successful. While I did start to write a parser, and have some tests code and
core modules' code, it still covers only a very small subset of the desired
functionality. Add to that that my grant manager has neglected to contact me
about the grant often, and it has been heavily neglected.

Hope it helps.
