That time has finally come for me that all good perl hackers dread -- being
forced to code in Java. Most Java tutorials, websites, and books seem to
target novice programmers. Anyone know of a condensed, quick reference or
site for Java for those with plenty of OO coding experience in perl ?
I've found a few that make a glancing blow, but nothing yet that really hits
the nail on the head.
When I had to bite the bullet several years ago, I really bit the whole

The Java in a Nutshell series isn't too bad. I strongly recommend that
you get yourself a good IDE (Eclipse http://www.eclipse.org/ is free),
because you're going to go absolutely nuts keeping track of the classes!
There are whole swaths of Java I learned in class that I have *never*
used (all the SWT stuff), so, if you're in do-it-yourself mode, figure
out what it is you want to accomplish.
Best up luck,
