Re: local::lib It also constructs and prints out for the user the list of environment variables using the syntax appropriate for the user's current shell (as specified by the SHELL environment variable), suitable for directly adding to one's shell configuration file. This answer's someone's question about how it figures out the appropriate means of interacting with the shell, as well as my question, which wasn't phrased well at the time. I wasn't asking how this greatest-thing-sliced-bread could modify PERL5LIB, but how it could do so persistently. The answer is it doesn't you have to set PERL5LIB manually, as you would without the module.
