we researched all this a couple of years ago. mit would be affordable
but more expensive than other sites. it would require maybe more
commercial sponsorship but that is also doable with many boston
companies using perl. this is another issue but not as important atm.

i have given that some thought and not come up with a good answer. the
banquet doesn't have to be on campus and where it could be is a
question. not many places can host 300-400 in a sit down dinner.

mit has a conferences office and they rent out mccormick hall for
them. dunno the pricing anymore. not super cheap but ok enough. and
there are a few hotels nearby for some. and maybe local people can host
some guests. we have a large local group so that may work a bit.

but again, the issue is mit sponsorship and this letter. and there will
be competition. i know of one group looking to host it.
