Dear JVA Friends: We are delighted to announce that JVA and its partners have just received a $1 million grant from the Compassion Capital Fund through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services! The grant will provide 17 more months of funding for our Colorado Compassion Initiative, which strives to build the capacity of grassroots organizations across the state! Funding will be used to provide $400,000 in grants, free training workshops and consulting services to small, faith-based and community organizations around Colorado. We will target groups that serve at-risk youth (with a focus on gang prevention and intervention), the elderly, homelessness, families transitioning from welfare to work, offender reentry, children of offenders and addicts, and marriage strengthening. We will also target organizations with budgets of $500,000 or less. A series of regional workshops will be held around the state this fall to help people apply for the program. Organizations interested in applying MUST attend an application workshop. No registration necessary.
