Well, the MP is different! I was thrilled to be able to use both the Walkman type and some small over the ear earphones I bought from RadioShack without having to crank up the volume. In fact, I had to lower it!

I have a pair of cheap Sony over the ear headphones that I use with
walkman players, but the BN doesn't drive them well. You have to crank
the volume way up to get an acceptable audio level through them. I find
that the BN works best with bud headphones, like the ones included, or
the ones that came with by Creative Labs Muvo MP3 player.
