This is exactly how I usually search the manual.

OK there it is. So it is clearly one of those things that you really have to 
knoe what to look for and there's no guessing it to find it because restarting 
has nothing whatsoever to do with volume. I think this whole discussion has 
more than illustrated my initial point which was that the manual is not 
particularly well arranged or user friendly as it is in the hellp system. A 
better indexing system andor the ability to search the entire manual at one 
time seems like a really good improvement to be made atsome time in the future 
when everyone is snowed in and can't do anything else down there at humanware. 
For the time being, I think I"m going  to take the txt version of the manual 
that I have on a CD and put it on my flash disk and if I need the room, delete 
the manual that is divided into a file for each chapter. Then I can use the 
find command to search the manual in the wordp  processor.  Can someone spot 
any faulty logic in this plan?
