You don't get around having to restart JAWS after you have attached the display. It sounds like ActiveSync is part of your start-up routine, and somebody else will have to help there. But since JAWS is what's driving the Braille display, if you make a change like adding a display in the middle of a JAWS session, nothing will change until you restart JAWS. Just the way it is.

However, I'm having few problems using it as a braille display. Firstly, I can't just connect the display. I have jaws set up to use my braille note. But when I connect my serial cable, I can't see anything when I get the braille note in to the braille terminal. The only way I can get it working is to reboot my computer... or shut down jaws and restart it.
