Hi Paul, What happens when you use the r command from within support mode is that, first of all, you need to be plugged into the AC adpter.
When you start the process, the battery will start charging from whatever the level is at the time and you will get a message saying something like "charging battery". Once the battery is fully charged the process we're used to with the bn talking until the battery is flat starts speaking. Once the battery has finally gotten flat, the MPower will then start one more charge to charge the battery to capacity and you will get a message telling you what it's doing. When the battery is fully charged again, the process will be completed and there should be a message to that effect. Once you plug in the adapter and hit the r command, the entire process is automatic and you don't have to do a thing as the cycle will complete by itself. The only thing you might want to do is either put the MPower someplace where you don't have to listen to the repeated message while it's discharging, or you can do what I did which was to turn the volume up and plug headphones into the jack. My experience has been that if you start the charging cycle in the evening that it will be completed by the next morning sometime. This will probably vary from one unit to another, but maybe it will give you some idea as to the required time for the cycling. As I remember, the first time or two it does take a bit longer. If you try to start the cycle and don't have the AC adapter connected, you'll get a message asking you to connect it before the cycle can continue. A real improvement over the old method I'd say.
