For the BN GPS, you could indeed purchase a receiver else where. But, you would need to get the software for the GPS program, then you would probably want the maps and points of interest so you could know what streets and business places and the like were around you, and then you would need some type of storage device such as a compact flash card on which to put the maps and points of interest. Actually, unless you have more than one BN and are then buying a second GPS license, I don't know if you would be able to just buy the software without the maps and points of interest. So, all in all, you would be looking at maybe getting a better price on a receiver, and possibly a better price on a CF card, although the GPS package usually comes with one with the maps for your state installed. ----- Original Message ----- From: "slerythema" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'Braillenote List'" <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, November 12, 2005 1:32 AM Subject: RE: GPS was RE: [Braillenote] wireless keyboard
So I could buy just the software from HW and a bluetooth receiver somewhere else and that is all I need? My phone is bluetooth and has the ability to add GPS service. Would this be something I could try with the BN? I haven't fully investigated the service on the phone but I think I would be able to use it as needed. Say I am taking a trip, have the service turned on and use it for that month and then have it canceled the previous month since I don't need GPS on a daily basis and surely this would be a cheaper alternative. I'm just speculating so any insights would be greatly appreciated. Cindy
