I left the MPower alone from the early morning hours Wed. until late last
night. It seems to have recharged and is working fine.

Um .... you don't have to do that with an mPower. The unit should
disconnect itself from the power supply and then reconnect when ready to
charge. As Pam said, sounds like it's not doing that.
