As far as I know, you must have the Windows software for it to work.

Subject: [Braillenote] VX4500, drivers and software
Hello again list,
I was able to get a USB cable for the VX4500 phone with a USB fitting on
one end and the VX4500 fitting on the other end. The Verizon person said
the cable was being closed out. I have fifteen days to try them out. I
gave the cable a try while waiting for my bus. The BN kept giving me a
"unrecognized card" message while the cord was in place. I couldn't do
anything more with the BN while the cord and phone were in place. I tried
both USB ports and got the same results. Verizon has always told me that
I needed their software in order for their phone to work with my BN. The
Modarola Startac worked well. I didn't try my V60 phone I had but I do
know those phones work even though they don't have speech features. Never
managed to use the VX4500 phone as a modem with any of my BN units
including the M power thus far. Does anyone have any suggestions or
should I take the cords back only to assume that the VX4500 won't work
with the BN family of products.
Thanks much!
Jim Aldrich
