Dear KC,

The manual I'm referring to is the Mpower manual for the BN QT. It doesn't
seem as if it was proofread to me.

There should be a different manual for Keysoft 7. Let's hope HumanWare does
a better job with this one. It should be translated and proofread by people
in the U.S., U.K., Australia and New Zealand. That way, the rules for
braille in all of the English-speaking countries would be followed.

And, for crying out loud, if they're making the manual from Word, turn off
the "smart quotes." The smart quotes are really dumb quotes because they
produce the wrong symbol for quotation marks and the braille copy will
produce wrong ones, too! And all of the URLs and email addresses should be
in computer braille!

There's no excuse for poor quality braille.

: Terri,
: I would suggest there are two issues to consider:
: 1. Whether you are using M-Power or the classic?
: 2. Will the added material in Keysoft Version 7.0 require learning new
stuff?
: I would agree with you that the quality of the Manual should be of the
superior. I just wonder if the Manual to which you refer was proofread?
Could some of the problem stem to the way it was transcribed?
: (Since he's mentioned embossing the Manual, I'd be curious to see what Jim
has to say about this subject.)
