You can't scan hymnals unless your scanner can also read music and translate it into braille. The only scanner I know which reads words and music is Dancing Dots. I've never used it because I use WindowEyes not the shark.
The file you are talking about is called a jpg. If the person is using a scanner which reads and translates music into braille, I'd be surprised. If not, then the person will have to delete all of the print music from the file so you can read the words. I thought you had a used PC. Did it crash, was it borrowed, or was I mistaken?
