Hi Linda,
OK, Linda. Now we know what's happening. <smile> Here you go.
1. Get onto bookshare with your BN.
2. Login by using the edit boxes and the submit button on the login
page. This is important because you can't download books from
bookshare unless they are in the public domain, unless you're
logged in.
3. Then, go find your book. You can do that by using any of the
links provided the browse one the new book link whatever.
4. Choose the format you want. BRF is usually what I choose, and it
works great!
5. Press enter on the link that says BRF format.
6. You will be asked what location you want to download the book to.
The machine defaults to the books folder on the flashdisk.
However, you can tell it whatever drive you want and whatever
folder you want in the usual way by pressing the backspace key to
get to the drive list and going on to the folders etc.
7. Once the book has downloaded, you must unpack it. The unpack tool
is already on the BN.
8. To do this use the book reader from the main menu of the BN. You
will be prompted for folder, remember that it defaults to the
books folder on the flash disk, unless you've told it something
different the last time you opened a book.
9. When it presents you with a list of books, it always presents the
last book you were reading first and you need to press the space
bar to get to the full list, press enter on the book of your
choice that you just downloaded.
10. When you press enter on the book's name, you will get prompted for
your password. Type it there, using computer braille.
11. You will be asked if you want to keep the original packed book on
your system. I usually say no.
12. Wait a minute or two, then boom, you have your book.
If you've lost some books, I'd look first on the flashdisk in the
books folder as that is where the BrailleNote's download manager
defaults to. If you've been using your computer to download books,
then I can't tell you where your books may be. However, a search
using the 'find' feature of Windows, irritating as it is, whill
probably bring the files to light. I suspect that they're in whatever
folder MSIE is defaulting to, usually downloads or something similar.
May be in My computer folder. As I say, use the dingdong find feature
in Windows and you'll find them. Look for bks.
