Thanks Dean, I'll try not to worry then. For all I know, it's been doing it
all along, and I just never noticed it. It's very soft. I assume that, if
there's a hardware upgrade, I'll need to send it to the hospital to be
repaired, so I hope it's really nothing serious, and that I don't have to
send it in for a long time!
BTW, I do, usually take my cards out, but that's because, one horrible
morning, the BN ate all the data on my Compactflash card. I assume this was
an anomaly, since it hasn't happened since, but I'm more careful about
removing cards nowadays, and I've actually started backing things up. Pity
it took losing all my notes/records to learn this, and I hope that, if
there's another on the list who is as lax as I was, that he/she is able to
learn from my mistake!

This noise is made when the power supply is disconnected from the Braille
display on the BrailleNote mPower. However, when I spoke to the hardware
techos regarding this, the word I got back was that it isn't a serious
issue
but that this may be looked at in a future hardware upgrade or
modification.

I discovered that, when I turn off my MPower, I hear a very faint noise

sounds a bit like a drive slowing down. Wish I could do a better job of
describing the sound. I'm pretty sure it never made that sound before, but
couldn't swear to it.
Has anyone ever heard such a thing? Any guesses what it might be? Should I
be scared? It seems to be working okay, but that noise is consistently
