Hello Kevin and List,
This hasn't been discussed since mid December but it has been a hot topic
on this list for some time so guess an update is in order.
Read the M-power manual under embossing topics, possibly embossing
and printing topics. There is a section on using a parallel port in
section 6.3.1. An Edgeport Inside out parallel converter is
recommended. It is something like $160 to $200 or more just for this
interface! I for one think it is too high a price to pay, can get a
printer for that price. I ordered an infrared adapter from the
manufacturer of my Braille Embosser and haven't seen that come in
yet. May need to call them today! Ordering anything through the holidays
can be risky at times. There are some bluetooth devices around which are
considerably less but haven't found anyone using these devices thus
far. My infrared adapter or whatever it is called is $72. The bluetooth
devices are lower in price but don't know how well they do or don't
work. I planned to report back to the list once I get my infrared device
but as I said, it hasn't come in yet. This has been a sore point for me
since the BN use to do such a great job with embossers till the parallel
port was taken out of the M-power design.
This leaves the possibility of using a serial port. This might be
difficult with a Braille Blazer since that machine has the twenty-five pin
serial port instead of a nine pin, at least, that is how it is with my
vintage machine. The serial port on my Juliet Classic doesn't work so am
stuck with finding a solution for embossing from the parallel port. I
have used my classic BN to emboss my documents but this is a pain I think.
As I say, once I get the infrared adapter, I'll report back. I haven't
heard anyone discussing how the edgeport does or doesn't work so that
should be an interesting discussion. Wish I could have helped you further.

Hey List,
I was wondering since there isnt a parallel port no longer available on
the mPower is it still possible to emboss to a embosser that still uses a
parallel connection, or is there a way to get around this, by using a USB
to parallel converter or of some sort. K, thanks list.
