Thank you kindly for the help. It does, indeed, work like a charm set
to Ethernet. I was thrown off by the manual and was following the
instructions stated there. However, I surfed the net and downloaded email
without incident.

Hello John,
Windows CE 4.2 does not support USB Ethernet adapters so you will need to do
what you are doing now and surf via Activesync if it is necessary to surf
via a USB connection.
