Hi Matthew

This will not solve your problem but I thought that I would tell you that I had a similar problem with my BN BT32 in mid December and had to send it off to Humanware in California. So far I have not heard back from them as to what the problem is and what repairs (if any) are required. Hopefully you have everything backed up.

Subject: [Braillenote] Significant Crash

Hi All,

While opening a file in KeyWord today, the BrailleNote switched off due
to lack of power. The battery level had been 1% for about 1 and a half
days prior to this, so in preparation for calibration I wanted to let
the battery run flat. However the BrailleNote will now only respond to
the reset switch, either alone or in conjunction with other keys.

I have contacted my local Humanware office in the UK and spoke to Tom in
technical support who said I should send it in, but I wondered if anyone
here had any other ideas.

So far I have tried:
* Soft Reset (Reset only).
* Hard Software Reset (Reset with dots 1, 2, 3).
* Hard Hardware Reset (Reset with dots 4, 5, 6).
* Re-Running of upgrade procedure from Keysoft 6.1 to 6.11 (Reset with
dots 4, 5).
* continually switching the BrailleNote on/off as if to fuse for half a
minute (recommended by local technical support).
* Leaving the BrailleNote on charge for two hours, then re-trying
procedures above.
* Charging with two chargers - one from school and one from home.

The response from these has been very small:
* The fuse action resulted in no response.
* All resets resulted in a beep, but no other response. With a PC card
inserted during a Software reset, it will spin up but never spin down.
* The upgrade procedures run as expected, including any errors, but on
completion resets only beep (see above).
* Charging for any length of time, with any charger, does not appear to
resolve the problem.

BrailleNote Information:
* Unit Type: BrailleNote Classic BT
* Braille Display Type: 32 KGS Cells
* total Flash Disk Size: 16MB
* Hardware Revision Number: H1 (on last check)
* KeySoft Version: 6.11
* Colonel Version: 5.0
* Windows CE: 4.2
* Serial Number: 18388
* Purchase date: Between august and November 2004

I'd conclude that somewhere in all this the Flash Disk or KeySoft System
Disk has become corrupted.

I've yet to re-contact the Humanware office but I won't be able to do
that until late afternoon tomorrow due to school, so if anyone here has
any suggestions I'd really appreciate them!

Thanks a lot in advance,
Matthew
