Hi again Gabe, for the benefit of those who are interested in actual facts, I will echo Dean's excellent explanation regarding the Planner, and further say that the XBase technology relates to the database structure we use to store Planner information. It does not relate in any way to the user interface of the Planner and the feature set such as the recurring appointments etc, which our engineering team spent a great deal of time perfecting in consultation with blind people.
Regarding my comments to you on feature suggestions, if you indeed have developed software, you will be aware that no company, no matter how good or customer focussed, can wave a magic wand and give every user their heart's desire overnight. I think objective observers on this list will look at recent advances like BrailleNote mPower and agree that we do take user feedback very seriously. I don't know how something could be all your own when you didn't write the library that holds most its functions. And Jonathan, it would seem he is much too busy. When all a response I get from him is "we're looking in to it" Gabe Vega Technical Support Specialist Information Services Unit Arizona Industries for the Blind CellPhone:(602) 488-9862 -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, August 10, 2005 3:09 PM To: Braillenote List Subject: Re: [Braillenote] Problem opening file Gabe, If you wish to discuss future functionality in detail or debate current functionality in the BrailleNote, please take this up with Jonathan Mosen. I have stated what is currently the case in my role as BrailleNote Product Specialist. At no time did I compare Explorer with anything we are doing here and while we use the database to store all Planner information, the Planner itself is still all our own. Wrong. Its part of a library that was already out there, that is why you have to release the xbase source. When you open a Word document for example, we utilise a Microsoft doc to RTF converter which we then convert to KeyWord, which is all our own code. However, if you open an RTF file, we use a converter to bring it into KeyWord which again, is our own code. Regarding your comments concerning KeyMail, we are aware that the manual claims we support many popular protocols and this will be rectified as soon as possible. It is not a deliberate attempt to mislead BrailleNote uses but rather, a documentation error. Your comments about KeySoft being a shell only holds true for some KeySoft components. To give an example, KeyWeb uses an Internet Explorer engine but KeyPlan is again, all our own.
