Yes, I was careful to reinstall all the synth and Braille drivers I wanted Jaws 
to have, including the BN.  I, too, think my serial portmight have died.  I 
bought a USB to serial converter from www.pagecomputers.com and it should be 
here in a few days.  I'll let you know if it solves things.
