Hello, Anne If you mean that many of us quote the original message in the reply, then I'd like to say I find that can be extremely useful, both in quoting from another's message to reinforce a point (which I've had cause to do in the last few days), and to get the gist of messages if they've somehow missed my inbox or I've inadvertently deleted them as sometimes happens when I'm dealing with tons of mail from this list.
If you're worried about those of us who like to debate, then isn't that what a list like this is partly about? I like to do this in a robust (but above all accurate) fashion, which is why access to an original message is a boon. Please tell me how this is selfish?
