Hi richard,

I'll try to answer at least a couple of your questions.

I really can't say about the lockups as I am not experiencing this. I will
lock up on rare occasions, but I don't have to reset the time/date/etc.

As for the keyboard, how old was your original braillenote?

I don't know the timeframe but a couple years ago Humanware did change the qt
keyboard to a different and noisier one as there were problems with the
keys on the earlier ones. I don't know if there were changes to the braille
keyboards as well.

Also, if you have an older braille display, some of the noise you are
experiencing could be from that. In the options menu under braille display
options there is
a setting for braille intensity. You might try changing this to a lower number
and see if that reduces the noise.

This intensity setting does not do much if anything if you have a newer
display, but it does help on older displays. If the cursor buttons above your
braille
display are rubber, you have one of these older displays. The newer displays
have plastic cursor buttons.

AS for the low volume on recording, again go into the Options menu and choose
review voice.

In there is a setting called speech volume. This should be set at 5. Your
recording problem may actually be that the playback is not loud enough. Also,
using the volume settings on the MPower, even if you have speech turned off,
will help the playback volume. The third control is that of the media player
itself. So, you actually have 3 controls which effect playback volume. The
one in the options menu which I mentioned before can be set to 5 and you can
forget it. The other two, you may need to play with those to find a playback
volume that works for you.

I use my MPower with speech turned off virtually all the time so leave the
speech volume at 32 which is the highest setting. So, I only really need to
concern
myself with the volume level of the media player itself.

Sorry for being so long, but I do hope this will help you.
