Yes, I also do that Penny, though we have a few files now, narrowing
them down a little.  I also put asterisks before the number of a
hymn/chorus for quick find so as not to get stuck with the wrong set of
numbering (IE, verse numbering).

We do a lot with hymns, songs, and choruses.  I have mine in 
hymnbooks and some of them have the key signature at the top with 
the title.  Then we'll have the number of verses, if that is 
needed.  Then the words.  We have many hymnbooks done this way.  
I use the find and forward command to go to the number of the 
song I want.  Maybe your songs do not have numbers.  That might 
be a challenge.  I like them in one large file myself.
