Hmmm, it's my understanding that with the mPower, running the battery flat automatically recalibrates it. But like you, even though I've run mine flat, I'm at something like 50. I think it did go back to 1 when I manually recalibrated it with the R off the support mode. Maybe that's the only way to make it go back to one, even though it recalibrates when run flat? Comments, Humanware?

Hi Rose,
I got my vnqt mpower at the beginning of January, it was shipped at the end of December. My batery cycle count is at 27. I can't figure out how to make it go back to one. I've run my battery flat and that does nothing. I've not recalibrated though.

We know that this happens, but, it does not solv the issue of how
to reset
the cycle counts, if there is a way, or answer the question I had
two months
ago about my newly returned BN 18-cell that wanted to recalibrate
through
four cycles and keep yammering and recharging for two days. I
eventually
told it to stop and it is working just fine.

Why a new much more complicated process needed to be created for
what seemed
to be a simple problem for me since my BN arrived in January 2001
is beyond
my scope of imagination, probably to get back at me and others
like me who
ran the battery flat every few months just using the BN, using
the "I am
talking" option to kill of the last few percentage points and
recharged. I
might add I got 24 to 36 months of good usage out of the
batteries. They
were in very good condition when I upgraded each unit to the
mPower.

In my humble opinion the process was not broke so why fix it! I
will, of
course live with the new process but I can't say it is one of the
features I
asked for or appreciate.

This is Joseph For people who were wondering how mPower
recalibrates: A
HumanWare staff wrote to me some time ago that when the battery
discharges,
you'll notice that the ac adapter is connected. This is because
when mPower
discharges, it disconnects the battery compartment from the power
source.
And after the discharge is completed, it'll reconnect the power
source. I
hope this information may help you.

Hi all,

Well, apparently, one *can* discharge a battery when the AC is
plugged in. I
think it's weird, but it says it's completed, and has been
recharging for
twenty-two minutes. It's quit yawping, too, so something must be
right.
Man, Humanware, huccum you did this thing
that seems so illogical but works? I'm not really complaining,
I'm
just totally flummixed! Hey, if it works, I'm not going to fix
it, but
discharging the battery while the AC is plugged in????
