Nope, grin, just tried again the way you and Sarah are doing it with no
success. Now, I can do it the long way I described before, so I do have the
access with just a bit more work before each data call. I have their five
MB data connect plan, and the person from Cingular tech support went through
the data connect and modem initialization string settings with me. I later
also called back and purchased their two MB media net plan for using the
internet/checking email from the phone itself.

I've had great success with the settings similar to what Sarah mentioned
earlier.
The user name and password don't seem to matter, but the number is *99#
Nothing should go in the modem string section.
You want to have the "log on to network" set to yes. You don't need to wait
for a dial tone.
Everything else should be ok.

Hi Mary Ellen and All,

Well, grin, don't feel bad about not knowing how to use the BN and cell
phone. For, to get mine to work at all, I spent many hours trying and
several calls to Cingular tech support. But, even though I can get my phone
to work with the BN now, I'm certainly not able to do it the simple way
Sarah does, at least not to be able to use the GPRS. For, every time I want
to use my phone that way with the BN, I have to go into the GPRS settings on
the phone and tell it which access point to use. Maybe it has something to
do with the configuration set up by Cingular, as well as the particular type
of data plan purchased, I don't know. For, with the settings I have, I can
get my PAC Mate to connect every time without having to enter that access
point info into the phone, as the PAC Mate will accept the initialization
string I'm entering. Then, too, with either the PM or BN, although I don't
know that Cingular is offering this anymore, I can use the much slower
connection that just takes my air time minutes without having to go into the
phone and entering the access point info.
