Hi Milissa,
Go to file manager and press enter on "rename file." Select "hard disk" from
the drive list, followed by the appropriate folder and file. When it prompts
you for the new file name, type it with a .doc extention. The .qwt extention
you have encountered means that the file is a Keysoft qwerty Braille
document, which the computer will be unable to recognize. This is why it is
necessary to convert any files you want to read on the computer to Microsoft
Word documents. It may be possible to also convert files to .txt documents,
but I am unsure of this and know that others on the list will know better
than I. Also, from personal experience, I have found that it is never a good
idea to rename a Braille document by simply pressing control r from keyword,
because I have learned the hard way that it will corrupt the specified file.
I have not found this to be the case with Microsoft Word documents and I
couldn't say about other file types since I have never tried to rename any
other such documents. Maybe some others on this list might know why this is
the case? Hope this helps.

Subject: [Braillenote] need help with transfering a file
Hey all,
I have a file I have created in Keyword and would like to copy it onto my
thumb drive so that the file can be read on a computer. I copied the file
onto my thumb drive using the file manager. However, when I pulled up the
file from the thumb drive on my computer, the file had a KWT extension and
windows would not open it. Is there a way to change the file extension
before copying the file so that windows will recognize the file on my
computer?
