The Braille display lasts a lot longer than two or three years, or at least
mine have. Humanware does recommend sending it in once or twice a year for
cleaning, but even if you don't the Braille display won't die after two or
three years. It's just a good idea to get it cleaned to keep it working at
top performance.

Kevin and others,
This is Jospeh. It is recommended that you send your unit at least once a
year to perform maintenance on it, such as replacing the battery, software
upgrades, cleaning the display, and so on. The braille display will lost
about 2 or 3 years.

Subject: [Braillenote] Life of the Display
Dear List,
I was wondering what is the life of the Braille Display, or has anyone had
to send it in to get it fixed or replaced even. I was just wondering
since
I have heard stories about people needing to send their units in to get
their batteries changed any other issues primarily software issues, but
nothing about the display.
Thanks for the information you are able to provide.
Kevin
