Hi Josh and All, I'm sending this to both the list and you directly, seeing as you indicated you read the digest version of the list. But, if I've gotten anything incorrectly here, folks on the list may certainly feel free to set me straight. I'm not going to try and answer all of your questions by any means, but maybe my experiences will help you a bit.
Those questions sound pretty similar to ones that I had before purchasing my equipment. I originally wanted to purchase the PK online from Sendero; however, grin, seeing as I didn't see it on their web page at the time and thus I had to make a phone call, anyway, I purchased that unit from HumanWare. I next did then purchase my mPower from Sendero Group, purchasing that along with the second license for GPS to work on the mPower as well as the PK. And, once again, seeing as I couldn't purchase everything I wanted online, I placed the telephone call. And, in the end, things worked out just fine with both of my purchases. As for the warranty on the units, my understanding is that it is through HumanWare. In fact, I'm told that Sendero forwards the customer contact info and all to HumanWare when they order a BN for a customer. Now, as for what the warranty covers, well, grin, I know it doesn't cover batteries. And, further, I think there is a link on the HW page that discusses the warranty a bit, and I'll include that at the end of this message. Still further, when I just checked yesterday, although it is certainly listed in their price list info, I didn't see a way for the Sendero shopping cart to account for the purchase of an SMA for the BN units. Also, as far as that goes, I also didn't see a way for the shopping cart to take into account the ten percent discount for purchasing the warranty at the same time of buying the BN. Also, if memory serves, there is a discount for purchasing the SMA at the same time you purchase the unit. And, yes, when I called Sendero to purchase the mPower, I did purchase both the warranty and the SMA for it at the same time and at the discounted price for each. And, oh, yes, when I purchased the mPower, there wasn't a deposit or anything, they just charged my credit card for everything we agreed on and then shipped the unit. Now, here is that link that I mentioned to the HW site, the one that discusses the warranty: http://humanware.com/Products/Complementary/shipping.asp ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joshua Young" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, May 06, 2006 12:42 PM Subject: [Braillenote] Purchasing Experiences I would like to here of people's experiences purchasing BN's. I sent the following email to Sendero. I am interested in ordering an mPower BT 18. I would like to order online. 1. Why is the online price cheaper? Why doesn't HW have online ordering? 2. Would I get the same level of tech support from HW if I order from Sendero? 3. Is the one year warranty from Sendero? What does it cover? 4. Does Sendero sell SMA's? In short, is purchasing from Sendero different from HW? Here is an additional question I have not sent. 5. Does purchasing require a deposit or holding of funds?
