Hi Carl,

I have a customer with a new Braille Note mPower. He is complaining about

another volume setting or offset or something to fix this. Am I right or
nuts? Thanks.

You're right, sort of. If you go into Options, then Review Voice, you can set the speech volume to a maximum of 5. The default is 3. Despite having done that on my MPower transplant, then cranking the master volume to 32, it's still considerably lower than the classics' maximum volume, which is a bummer, especially if you use it in noisy areas such as crowded rooms with lively conversation, outdoors on a busy street, et cetera. I guess the amp in the new units just doesn't have the same power. If you want to buy an external powered speaker and schlep that around, it's a possible option. Radio Shack makes one of those, and there are others around that I've read about from time to time.

Tom
