A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, Humanware released Keysoft
version 6.0. Subsequently, they released an updated version, Keysoft
6.01. Many individuals received their Compact Flash upgrade kits, and
although the label still showed 6.0, they were in fact receiving Keysoft
6.01.
Many were frustrated, many were confused, and this is a small small
thing.
Rather than having different versions of Keysoft, perhaps it would make
sense to sell add-ons separately for those who need them, similar to
how GBS is currently marketed.
Braille music is for those who use it a wonderful thing. However, even
most of the blind musicians I know do not know the code. This does not
mean that some form of software that would deal with Braille music would
be a bad thing.
I think, however, that the vast majority of younger Braillenote product
users are going to want Instant Messaging.
I doubt if Humanware is going to make them pay extra for it, too many
people want it.

I can't see why my idea would be confusing. Presently, a person can get
the
English only version of Keysoft or she/he can buy one or more of the
foreign
languages. Also, people can pay extra for the GPS. These aren't
standard
features, but they are available to those who need them.

Here's another example. Suppose Humanware decided to implement the
Dancing
Dots braille music translation software into the BN. Many people don't
read
braille music so they wouldn't have a need for this software, but a few
people would find it handy and they could buy it.

Another example would be the Scientific Notebook software for
translating
math into braille. Many people would like to have this feature, but
others
might not.

As far as I know, there is no backtranslation for either math or music.
So
you can't translate Nemeth Code into print or braille music into print.

: Many individuals currently own Braillenote products. When I say
: Braillenote products, I choose to include both display sizes
available,
: and Voicenotes.
: There are as it is many products to know about, and many options to
: understand.
: I mean that, for example, though Keysoft 7 runs on the Braillenote
: classic, Eloquence does not. I firmly believe that were Humanware to
: issue special software that contained some features, while other
: versions contained other features, confusion would walk among us.
Every
: device and/or piece of software that I own has features that I do not
: use. That doesn't mean that someone else doesn't. I personally
will
: not use instant messaging.
: That seems to be mostly for the younger users, I know some young
: people who spend hours doing it. Whatever floats your boat.
: In fact, I was recently talking to a person on the phone, and the
whole
: time we talked, the person was madly typing instant messages to
others.
: >From my perspective, a bit rude. But, I think it's a generational
: thing.
: Anyway, I think that the overwhelming majority of students, for
example,
: will want instant messaging. Do I have to use it?
: Not at all.
: I don't care much about adventure games either, but how does do me
harm
: to have that function as part of the unit?-----Original Message-----

: Dear Sarah,
:
: I think my idea would work because many "extras" are software, not
: hardware
: so a person could buy the extra software they need. That's what
people
: do
: when they want foreign languages so the idea should work with other
: software, too.
:
: The braille display is expensive, but remember the competition, The
: Braille
: Sense, costs less than the BrailleNote mPower with a 32 braille cell
: display.

:: The "bells and whistles" and "extras" are not what causes the BN to

: Also,
: there seems to be no regard for the fact that HW is already working

: to

double
