Hi Rhonda,
Thanks, but nothing happens when I do that.
I don't even hear the buz noise for the reset.
I held them down for a fairly long time.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Richard

Hi Richard:
Try your record key with C 3 and C 4. Everything will go back to
the default, but it should work. Let us know.

Hi Rhonda,
I have not tried a service reset. I wasn't sure which
combination it
was on the PK. Which keys is it with the PK?
Thanks,
Richard

Richard, are you running 7.0? If you have the recording feature,
did
you try a service reset?

Subject: [Braillenote] Dead PK
Greetings,
If you don't have a PK nor lots of experience with its errors,
don't
waste your time reading this as it is going to be a long message.
I was out of town at a meeting. The hotel had free DSL.
I was down loading my E-mail on the PK when it gave an error
about
not being able to read the file. I hit enter and it down loaded
the
rest of the 21 e-mails.
It then said, 20 e-mails down loaded and no e-mails to send.
It then said "operation complete. Read from which folder." (Or
something like that." Instead of the usual opening the inbox and
being on the last e-mail read.
So, the default was the inbox, so I hit enter. It said
"operation
complete. read from which folder."
I realized I was in a loop, so I exited out of the E-mail back to
the
main menu and tried again.
I got into the same loop. I had never heard the "operation
complete." message before.
I did a re-set with c3c4.
That, apparently, was my bigger mistake. It made its buz noise
and
then a little while later the pretty little chime that happens
before
it says Keysoft 7, etc.
However, it never said Keysoft 7, etc. It just sat there.
I tried another c3c4 re-set. The same thing.
I tried a 123, c3c4 re-set. Same results.
I tried a c1c4 turn off and then a c1c4 back on. Nothing.
I called tech support, and sat on hold for ten minutes when I
decided
to leave a message.
(sadly, I gave the wrong phone number out of frustration.)
I called right back and left a corrected message.
I then waited a half an hour. I was going to have to leave the
hotel
room for the meeting soon, so, I called back, sat on hold another
8
minutes, and had to hang up as my ride was there.
I called back when I got to the meeting and sat on hold while
every
little while a computer voice said "4" and the hold message offer
to
have me leave a message.
I got tired of this and hung up.
So, I couldn't read any of the material I needed during the
meeting,
nor could I take notes.
I plan to call Monday and sit on hold as long as it takes to see
if
there is anything that can be done without sending it in.
Of course, if someone has a really good idea for what else to
try, I'm open.
Richard
