Hi there Sherry,

Yes, sure you can download on to your mPower for convenience but, in order that the upgrade may work, you have to have the file loaded on to an SD card.

Hope this is clear and that you'll be able to purchase that card soon.

All the best for your move.

Right, I understand that part of that. But what I was trying to clarify is that, when I download something to my PC, I don't have to save it to a disc
or anything first, if I don't want to. I can just download it, presto.
so, what I meant was I can't shut down the PC, hook the braille note up to
the DSL connection, go to the link, download the patch directly to the
mPower. It has to be done on a card first. I would be curious to know why that is, because that is somewhat inconvenient, and the mPower is certainly
robust enough to handle direct downloads, I would have thought. I'm not
saying that as a criticism, but just as a curiosity, a hmmm, wonder why.
lol.

Well, I just accepted a job offer in California, so I'll be moving and will
deal with upgrades and things like that after I'm settled and working.

sherry, you do hook up to the internet. You don't need a pc.
You just need an Sd card. Then, from the Sd card that you downloaded from
the BN, you download it to the mPower.

Thanks, Vicki. So, to clarify, the upgrade can't just be
downloaded
directly, the way I would download something directly to a PC. I
can't hook
the mPower to the internet and download it and install it. I
have to
download it to a card first. Well, that will let me out for a
while. I'm
getting ready to move to California, and all my finances are
aimed at that!
grin. But an SD card is on my list of future necessities.
thanks for the
info.

Sherry

Hi Sherry,

Of course, grin, I'm not Rhonda. But, to answer your questions,
you do need
to have the SD card for the mPower to perform any of the
upgrades, an SD
card at least 64MB and no larger than 512MB. And, second, if
memory serves,
the instructions in Jonathan's message of earlier today say in
effect that
one should only download and install the patch if they are
experiencing
problems with any of the issues mentioned in those being fixed.

Rhonda,

Well, I just read Jonathan's message to hold off, but for when we
can
download the patch, I do not have an SD card as of yet. Can I
simply
download directly to the mPower, as I would other things?
Thanks.

And if I haven't noticed some of the problems do I need to
download it? I
haven't tried downloading book share books, well, only one to try
out the
unpacking process.

Sherry
